1. About these terms

Scopebase is a trading name of Mohammed Ahmed, a sole trader, of Scopebase, Office 22299, 182–184 High Street North, East Ham, London E6 2JA. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Mohammed Ahmed trading as Scopebase.

These terms apply when you use Scopebase, a free job planner for UK DIYers. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

Questions? Email hello.scoped@gmail.com or write to us at the address above.

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over to create an account.
  • Give us accurate details and keep your password safe. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your Account page.

3. Estimates are a guide only

Scopebase gives you estimated quantities, costs, times and step-by-step plans based on the details you enter. Please keep in mind:

  • Estimates are not a quotation. Prices are indicative UK retail prices and change often.
  • Quantities depend on the measurements and answers you give. Always check measurements, product coverage, pack sizes and prices before you buy.
  • Plans marked “Rough guide” are a starting point only and need extra checking.
  • Store links are search links to help you compare prices. We're not responsible for retailers' websites, products or prices.
  • The “Paying a pro instead?” line is an indicative guide, not a quote from a tradesperson.

4. Safety

DIY can be dangerous. You're responsible for deciding whether a job is right for you and for doing it safely.

  • Always follow manufacturers' instructions and wear the right protective equipment.
  • Electrical, gas and structural work must be done by a suitably qualified professional.
  • Never remove or alter a load-bearing wall without professional advice.
  • In older homes, check for lead paint and asbestos before sanding, drilling or removing anything.
  • Check building regulations, planning rules, boundaries and any other permissions your job needs.

5. Using Scopebase fairly

Please don't:

  • use Scopebase for anything unlawful, harmful or misleading
  • try to access other people's accounts or the admin area, or get around our limits or security
  • copy, scrape or resell our content, prices or plans in bulk
  • upload anything offensive, or anything containing other people's personal details

We limit how many plans and messages can be sent in a period to keep the service fair and available. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

6. Your content and ours

You own the job descriptions and messages you send us. You give us permission to use them to provide and improve Scopebase, as described in our Privacy Policy.

The Scopebase name, logo, design, recipes and plans belong to us. You can use and share your own plans for personal use.

If you share a plan link, anyone with the link can view that plan until the link expires after 30 days.

7. Changes to the service

Scopebase is free for DIYers at the moment. We may change, pause or stop features, for example for maintenance. If we ever plan to charge for something, we'll tell you clearly first, and you won't be charged without agreeing.

8. Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep Scopebase useful and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or suitable for your particular job.

As Scopebase is a free planning tool, we're not responsible for losses caused by relying on estimates without checking them, such as buying the wrong amount of materials, or for loss of business or profit. We're also not responsible for the work you or anyone else carries out.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

9. Law and disputes

If you have a problem, please contact us first at hello.scoped@gmail.com so we can try to sort it out.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims in your local courts, and the mandatory laws of where you live will still apply.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you by email or on the site. If you keep using Scopebase after a change, the new terms apply.
